Kotātā Heights is a large scale urban property development in Whangārei established in 2018, with the goal to provide affordable house and land packages and meet the growing demand for housing in Whangārei.
When the developers behind Whangārei’s most central subdivision were ready to move forward on consent and planning, they also knew that a key part of their success would be the branding and positioning of the new urban community. The developers wanted to make sure the subdivision supported the city’s demand for affordable housing, while still ensuring those living in the newly formed streets would feel proud of their street address.
We enjoyed supporting the research and strategy phase of this project, including researching and developing recommendations not just for the new subdivision’s name, but also for all the avenues, streets and crescents that followed. Finding strong connections to the area’s history helped to bring the subdivision to life.
Once the name was decided, we set to work to develop the brand, and most importantly, the positioning of the new community to ensure it represented both quality and attainability. The Kotātā Heights brand depicts the Fernbird after which the subdivision is named. Fernbirds (or Kotātā in Māori) were known to have resided around Limeburners Creek, at the foot of the subdivision and once had a special connection to the area.
Over the last four years, we have continued to supported the developers with the design and development of key sales tools, such as the website, real estate sales collateral, promotional photography, signage, digital marketing and more. The development launched successfully, with Stages 1 and 2 all sold in less than 12 months. Stages 3 and 4 are now hitting the market, with strong sales forecast.
